From the Environmental Stewardship Committee: Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4 NRSV Green Bible Green Tip: The U.S. has 3.9 million miles of paved roads, enough to circle the earth at the equator 157 times. Every time it rains the water flows off our roofs, sidewalks, and driveways and rolls down the street to the sewers. As it goes it picks up pesticides, oil, garbage and dirt products which wash into our waterways. Things we can do to help keep storm water clean: 1) Wash your car on the lawn or at a commercial car wash; not in the driveway or street. 2) Compost or recycle yard waste; 3) Sweep - don’t - hose driveways and sidewalks; 4) Use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly, if at all, and properly dispose of them and other household chemicals.
