Sunday is your last chance to help determine the outcome of the big game...atleast when it comes to the hungry in Callaway County we know who will win! One of my favorite memories growing up at Fulton Presbyterian is Jim Cruickshank and his Souper Bowl minutes for mission. I am pretty sure that Jim is leaning toward the Giants this year, in case that still has any influence on how you vote :) I also always loved getting together with the Senior Highs to watch the game and snack on yummy stuff. If NBC would come in OverTheAir we could watch it on the projector again this year, but I think a better antenna will have to be acquired before next year. Here are the real details for this year. Support your favorite team. We will again be involved in collecting money/food items for SERVE thru February 5th Super Bowl Sunday. The Mission committee challenges our church to provide 3 truckloads of food through cash donations ($300 per truck load) and 500 nonperishable food items. What you can do to: Bring a check to church made out to FPC noting it is for Souper Bowl Sunday OR bring food items to the Contemporary or Traditional worship services. Just for fun: You can support your AFC or NFC team by placing your food item behind the respective team sign located on the platform in the sanctuary or under the windows in Fellowship Hall. If you are donating cash, please write in the memo line which team you are supporting. We will give points as follows: $100=one "truck down" (7 points), 75 food items=one "food goal" (3 points). Will the AFC or NFC win? We know the hungry in Callaway County will win!! |

Around 8:30am tune in from your computer to see and hear the Praise Band and worship service by clicking the link here The page will ask for a username: Fulton and password: worship Select the Single tab at the top of the Panasonic Network Camera website The first time the website will probably need to add a thing or two to your browser so that you can see and hear, accept or Add the ActiveX popups and allow it to install and enjoy. Recording is still a work in progress, and may only result in sermon audio being publicly available, but let us know what you are interested in and we will keep you updated as to what is available. On Oct 31st during the 8:45 a.m. Son Rise Worship Service, we will remember the “Saints who have gone before.” Bring a picture of someone who has reminded you of who and whose you are… It can be someone who has already passed away or remains here as a living witness. There will be a time to remember your witness/saint during the prayers. Their lives have been/are a gift to God, and they have shown/show us the way to live our lives. This is the traditional meaning of the time around “Halloween” or “All Hallow’s Eve,” the night before All Saint’s Day. Won’t you join? |

Romans 6:4 NRSV Green Bible Green Tip: The U.S. has 3.9 million miles of paved roads, enough to circle the earth at the equator 157 times. Every time it rains the water flows off our roofs, sidewalks, and driveways and rolls down the street to the sewers. As it goes it picks up pesticides, oil, garbage and dirt products which wash into our waterways. Things we can do to help keep storm water clean: 1) Wash your car on the lawn or at a commercial car wash; not in the driveway or street. 2) Compost or recycle yard waste; 3) Sweep - don’t - hose driveways and sidewalks; 4) Use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly, if at all, and properly dispose of them and other household chemicals. This Sunday, April 18th following the morning worship service there will be a Soup Luncheon Fundraiser to support the Youth Triennium trip this summer. Triennium is a wonderful gathering of high school aged youth that only happens every 3 years because it is so huge and amazing! But it takes money to send our youth and we need your help...and what could be better than not having to worry about what is for lunch this month on Sundays :) |
Coming Up Mark your Calendars!!! April 9 & 10, 2010 Come to Covenant Point and help us bring the camp out of winter hibernation. There will be clean-up, spruce-up, repair, painting, and a number of projects to get the camp ready for the spring, summer, and autumn camping and retreat season. Lodging and meals will be provided as will fun and fellowship. Bring your RV if you wish. We have full hook-ups with 30 amp electrical service. WE LIKE PIE…and the Senior High Youth Group hopes you do too!  We will be selling homemade pies to help offset the cost of our trip to Triennium this summer. The pies will go on sale starting on Sunday, March 14th through Sunday, March 28th. Look for our booth this Sunday to select a pie that will be ready to pick up on Easter Sunday, April 4th. As we mourn the loss, may we also celebrate his life! The visitation for Don Dobson will be Friday at the High School from 4pm - 7pm and the Service will be here in the Sanctuary, Saturday morning at 11am. As coach, teacher, and christian, Don has had a great impact on lots of youth and adults alike, the visitation and service are sure to be filled with people and praises for our friend. Fellow members of the Fulton Presbyterian church may we help to make people as comfortable as possible as they deal with this loss and as visitors in our church. Help where you can. The Souper Bowl tables looked mostly equal Friday morning when I stopped by to help Janet get more connected to what I have going online so far. The SERVE Food Pantry is always needing donations and voting for the Colts is a great way to give :-) If you look to the menus on the left of this website you will see that the Newsletters are available online again. YAY!! We should be able to leave the past few weeks up so that people can catch up or look back for stuff, but as a free site the storage isn't unlimited. Also be sure to check out the Events Calendar. I quickly showed Janet how to keep that updated with all of the church activities and more and more should be showing up on there. We were even thinking about how it would be a good place to check before someone sets up in advance for their event, since the fellowship hall in particular is used for lots of different activities throughout the week. Scheduling is hard to keep up with so hopefully this will make it a little easier. We are taking steps toward a better web presence, keep with us, the best is yet to come. Smile, Rob |

If like me you have not taken action yet, here are the suggestions passed on to us from Presbytery Friends in Missouri Union Offerings received for relief/assistance in Haiti may be directed to one of the following Presbyterian agencies. 1) If your intention is to provide support for long-term recovery, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, which specializes in reconstruction, is the best place to make a difference. Please designate account: DR000064 on any checks for Haiti. Gifts can be made online at www.pcusa.org, by phone at (800) 872-3283, or by check. Checks may be given through your local Presbyterian congregation or mailed to: Presbyterian Church-Disaster Assistance P.O. Box 643700 Pittsburg, PA 15264-3700. If you go on-line to www.pcusa enter PDA in the search box, and then click on the information about Haiti; it's possible to make a pledge (which indicates your congregation and presbytery) print that form, and mail it with your check, keeping a copy for your records. [I used this to send a personal check right after the earthquake.] Churches in Missouri Union have already received and mailed contributions to PDA. 2) If you want to provide medical aid, the Medical Benevolence Foundation (a validated Mission Support Group in covenant agreement with the PCUSA) is receiving and forwarding funds to Haiti, where they already have personnel and clinics. Hello, So our website has been less than fully functional now for a very long time, we have tried several things and we have probably grown a little too accustomed to our site being out of date or altogether incorrect or dysfunctional in other ways. So this is the latest improvement, and I will update you on our status. You don't have to learn Hebrew or whatever, that is the demo stuff. The last site was setup to be more interactive, but we had to be shown/taught how to interact with it, and before we even got fully trained on it...it crashed and all the info on it was lost. I have very little paper copies of what was there so if you happened to print say the worship or ministries pages I would really appreciate it if you dropped those past the church office. The current site you see now, is hosted by Google Sites. Google seems to be very generous, so currently it is free and seems very stable for our needs and more intuitive to add the interaction that we were looking for. With all that said I have also added us on Facebook, also free, not as customizable and you have to ignore all their ads, but an increasingly common connection tool that we should be able to utilize in tandem with this site. Like I said before, not everything is up to date or functioning as I would like...it all takes time and I should be getting with Janet soon so that she can integrate with the site better too.
